Monica Wood is a certified Bilingual Educational Diagnostician who received her Master of Special Education at the University of North Texas. She also holds a second Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Texas at Arlington. She received a Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies from Texas Woman’s University. Monica also holds her certifications in Bilingual Education, Legacy Master Reading Teacher, Reading Specialist, Special Education, and Bilingual Educational Diagnostician.
Monica began her career as a bilingual teacher, then in the field of Response to Intervention/Multi-Tier Student Support Team. She has also served as an Instructional Support Teacher and Teacher Coach where she also wrote curriculum for the school district. As a parent of a special needs child, she then switched her role into special education. She knew this personal connection would help children and parents navigate and understand their journey in the special education world. She has twenty years in the education field. As a Diagnostician, she has served on the Early Childhood Assessment Team, Bilingual Evaluation Team, and has experience evaluating children with Assistive Technology, Communication Disorders, Behavioral Needs, and Autism. Monica has also given special education training/professional development to her district and other private educational centers.
Monica lives in Rowlett with her husband, son, daughter, and beagles. As an active parent, she tries to find time to balance her Mom-life by working out, doing embroidery, painting, and reading. She also loves to dance and do home-cooking for her family.
