Anna Kate Coker is a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate supervised by Karen Giddings, LPC-S. She earned her Master’s degree in Counseling & Development, with a concentration in counseling children and adolescents, from Texas Woman’s University. She received her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and an Applied Behavioral Health Certificate from Texas A&M University. During graduate school, Anna Kate provided Child-Centered Play Therapy and counseling services in a nonprofit setting, supporting children and families who had experienced trauma, crises, and domestic violence.
Anna Kate has experience and works with children and adolescents experiencing behavioral concerns, bullying, anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, and difficulties with emotional regulation and expression. She utilizes developmentally appropriate interventions, including Child-Centered Play Therapy, activity-based therapy, mindfulness techniques, and a cognitive behavioral strengths-based approach. Anna Kate recognizes each client’s experience as unique and seeks to understand children and their families within the context of their environment. She is committed to creating a safe, trusting, and accepting space that promotes self-awareness and growth toward meaningful change. Anna Kate is an alumna of Ursuline and has experience competing in collegiate athletics, which has further shaped her passion for supporting individuals in competitive environments and fostering resilience. In addition to her work at The Housson Center, Anna Kate serves as a full-time school counselor at a primary school.
In her free time, she can be found spending time with friends and family, working out, trying new restaurants and recipes, traveling, watching sports, and cheering on the Aggies!
